Founding History Of BSCI

On 1st February 2003, a ‘General Meeting’ was held in Xenial Restaurant, Road #27, Dhanmondi, Dhaka-1000; and the concept of Bangladesh Society of Cardiovascular Intervention (BSCI) was discussed by Prof. Dr. Sufia Rahman. This was accepted in the General Meeting in the presence of Prof. Dr. Sufia Rahman, Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman, Dr. N.A.M. Momenuzzaman, Dr. Shahabudin Talukder, Dr. AKM Fazlur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Abul Hossain Khan Chowdhury, Dr. Syed Ali Ahsan, Dr. Afzalur Rahman, Dr. Mahboobur Rahman, Dr. Mazharul Islam Imran, Dr. Mir Jamal Uddin, Dr. Gouranga Kumar Saha, Dr. AHM Masud Sinah, Dr. Khaled Mohsin, Dr. M. Towhidul Haque, Dr. Harun-Or-Rashid Bhuiya, Dr. M. Shahabuddin, Dr. M. A. Kader Akanda, Dr. Abdul Wadud Chowdhury and Dr. Kazi Atiqur Rahman. Accordingly a ‘Founding Convening Committee’ was formed consisting of Prof. Dr. Sufia Rahman- (Convenor), Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman- (Joint Convenor), Dr. N.A.M. Momenuzzaman- (Joint Convenor), Dr. Shahabudin Talukder- (Member Secretary), Dr. AKM Fazlur Rahman-(Treasurer) and Members: Prof. Dr. Abul Hossain Khan Chowdhury, Dr. Shams Munwar, Dr. Syed Ali Ahsan, Dr. Afzalur Rahman, Dr. M. Mahbubur Rahman & Dr. A.E.M. Mazharul Islam. Later on the Constitution (28.04.2004) & the Monogram (07.08.2005) of the Society were adopted unanimously.

The aims and objectives of this newly formed Society is to promote knowledge, expertise, organize training courses, workshop, CME and scientific seminars for the Cardiologists and other Healthcare Professionals of home and abroad to raise the standard of Interventional Cardiology practice for the proper management of the cardiac patients along with the co-operations of the other National and International organizations.
