Scientific Context & Rationale

Programme Overview & Clinical Impact

Virtual session focusing on IVUS, OCT, and FFR optimization.

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) has evolved rapidly from simple balloon angioplasty to sophisticated lesion-specific revascularization. Coronary angiography alone often underestimates the true physiological and morphological extent of complex disease, leading to under-sizing, geographic miss, and unexpected stent failure. This masterclass bridges diagnostic ambiguity with cutting-edge endovascular tools to deliver superior clinical and procedural outcomes.

Through interactive didactic lectures, real-world case simulations, and moderated complication reviews, attendees will gain actionable knowledge directly applicable in the catheterization laboratory. Special focus will be given to evidence-backed decision trees, high-risk patient subsets, and protocolized strategies to maximize long-term vessel patency and patient safety.

Key Learning Outcomes

What You Will Master

Participants completing this certified scientific module will be equipped with core competencies designed to refine daily cath lab decision-making:

Imaging Interpretation

Master cross-sectional IVUS & OCT interpretation to identify calcification, lipid pools, and dissection flaps accurately.

Physiological Guidance

Adjudicate borderline and intermediate coronary stenosis using resting (iFR/RFR) and hyperemic (FFR) indices.

Stent Sizing & Optimization

Apply MLD MAX algorithms to prevent under-expansion, edge malapposition, and recurrent in-stent restenosis.

Bifurcation Techniques

Execute step-by-step DK-Crush, Culotte, and Provisional stenting with Proximal Optimization Technique (POT).

Complication Bailout

Formulate immediate algorithmic responses to coronary perforation, acute vessel closure, and no-reflow phenomena.

Radiation & Renal Safety

Implement ALARA low-dose fluoroscopy protocols and contrast-sparing techniques for renal-compromised patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for BSCI member-discounted registration?
All active General, Life, and Associate Members of BSCI in good standing are entitled to complimentary or subsidized member rates. Non-member cardiologists, postgraduates, and guests may register directly under the Guest Registration option.
How and when will I receive my CME certificate?
Following live attendance verification, certificates are digitally signed and uploaded to your BSCI profile dashboard within 24–48 hours. You can download and print the high-resolution PDF certificate whenever required.
Can I register on the day of the event on-site?
On-site registration is strictly subject to seat availability. Because hands-on seats and workshop slots are limited, we strongly advise completing your registration online in advance to guarantee admission and catering allocation.
What is the cancellation and substitution policy?
If you cannot attend, you may cancel your registration through your dashboard up to 48 hours before the event, or request colleague substitution by contacting the BSCI Secretariat at support@bscibd.org.
